The history of the Laboratory of Evaluation and Assessment of Natural Resources starts in the year 1998, when the Laboratory belonged to the Faculty of Zootechnique of the Warsaw Agricultural University – SGGW (now Warsaw University of Life Sciences – SGGW). In the year 2001 the Laboratory was associated to the Department of Landscape Architecture of the Faculty of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture, expanding the area of research by problems of spatial planning and landscape planning for sustainable development and connecting it to the didactic programs of studies in Landscape Architecture and Regional Planning.
The Laboratory became independent within the Faculty of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture in January 2005. Since then the domicile of the Laboratory is building nr. 13, renovated and located on the old campus of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences – SGGW.
The activity of the Laboratory covers research projects (team work as well as individual work), whose results are the basis for specialized education in master studies as well as postgraduate studies. Additionally, in order to intensify teaching effects, students are invited to participate in chosen research projects of the Laboratory, in the context of projecting and planning of both rural and urban areas for sustainable development under consideration of protection of biological diversity (projecting and planning of natural systems).
